OUR COMPANY
Meet our founder and diamond jewelry designer, Timothy – a true romantic with a passion for creating stunning pieces of luxury jewelry.
As the founder of our company, Timothy brings a unique perspective to the world of diamond jewelry design. With a background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and the luxury industry, as well as a deep appreciation for the beauty of diamonds, he has dedicated his career to creating exquisite pieces of jewelry that capture the essence of love and romance.
At heart, Timothy believes in the power of love to transform lives. This passion is evident in every piece of jewelry he designs, which is crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail to ensure that it is a perfect symbol of the love and commitment shared between two people.
Timothy’s love for luxury goes beyond just the jewelry he creates. He believes that every aspect of life should be celebrated and enjoyed to the fullest, and he brings this same dedication to luxury and quality to everything he does. From the materials used in the jewelry to the packaging it comes in, every detail is carefully considered to ensure that it meets Timothy’s exacting standards of excellence.
So whether you’re in the market for an engagement ring to symbolize your love, a special piece of jewelry to mark a milestone, or simply a touch of luxury to elevate your everyday, you can trust that Timothy Carr will deliver the highest quality and most beautiful pieces of diamond jewelry that you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
We do things differently than most other jewelry companies who dabble in both sides of the coin when it comes to diamonds: they give the consumer the choice of mined or lab diamonds. Many companies have simply jumped on the ethical bandwagon, commonly known as green washing the consumer. This is the process of conveying a false impression or providing misleading information about how a company’s products or values are environmentally sound.
We are different with the options we offer in diamonds because we have never, and will never, set our jewelry with mined diamonds; we use lab grown diamonds, Timothy Carr Diamonds and sustainably sourced gemstones only.
Why? Because we believe these are the only truly ethical diamonds and stones that align with our core values as a company. A lot of consumers still haven’t got their heads around lab diamonds, hence why most jewellers sell both, ensuring they don’t lose the sale. However, we don’t sell a product that we don’t believe is sustainable or ethical.
We only use lab diamonds that have been grown in a sustainable way: currently there are only a handful of growers in the world that use renewable energy to grow their diamonds, and these are the only suppliers that we use for our lab diamonds. The Timothy Carr Diamond, our signature gemstone, is also completely lab grown, meaning no devastation caused to the environment from mining. We also use fully recycled/recyclable packaging using 100% natural products (tissue paper, inks, paper, boxes, mailer bags etc) materials used are sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forests, this means that 70% of the materials origin from well-managed, FSC-certified forests and a maximum of 30% from recycled materials and other controlled sources to protect the forests for future generations. Our website server uses 100% renewable energy, too. Furthermore, the metals we use are either Fairtrade or predominantly recycled (some fresh grain is added to recycled grain, but most of it is recycled grain).
At Timothy Carr, we believe in giving back to the world in meaningful ways. That’s why we partner with a range of humanitarian causes, including projects to improve water quality and availability, to make a positive impact in the world.
We partner with non-profit organizations that work to provide access to clean and safe water to communities in need. By partnering with these pioneers, we are able to support their efforts to improve the lives of people around the world. Many communities around the world have had their water supplies damaged or destroyed by mining operations, so our lab grown diamond jewelry sales will help replenish clean water supplies for communities in need.
In addition, we also donate a portion of our sales to a range of philanthropic causes. This means that when you purchase a piece of diamond jewelry from us, you’re not only treating yourself or a loved one to a stunning piece of jewelry, but you’re also contributing to important causes that make a difference in people’s lives.
We believe that luxury and compassion can go hand in hand, and we’re proud to offer our customers the opportunity to make a difference through their purchases. So whether you’re in the market for a diamond engagement ring or a special piece of diamond jewelry to mark a milestone, you can feel good about your purchase knowing that you’re supporting important causes with every sale.
At Timothy Carr, we’re committed to making a positive impact in the world. That’s why we donate a portion of our sales to a range of philanthropic causes.
The specific amount that we give to each cause varies based on a number of factors, including the cause itself, the scope of the project, and the specific needs of the community we’re supporting.
However, we can assure you that we take our commitment to giving back seriously, and that we work to maximize the impact of our donations. We believe that every little bit counts, and that even a small contribution can make a big difference in the lives of those in need.
We’re proud to partner with a range of humanitarian causes and organizations, and we’re committed to continuing our efforts to support important causes through our sales. So when you purchase a piece of diamond jewelry from us, you can feel good about the fact that a portion of your purchase is going towards making the world a better place.
GENERAL
Choosing the perfect diamond ring for your loved one is an exciting and special experience, and it’s important to make sure that the ring fits perfectly. Here are some simple steps to help you measure your beloved’s finger to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit:
Wait for the right moment. Measuring your loved one’s finger is a personal experience, so it’s best to wait until you can do it together without spoiling the surprise. If you’re trying to keep the ring a secret, you can try to casually ask about their ring size without giving away the surprise.
Find a ring that fits. If your loved one already wears a ring on the finger you’re sizing, that’s a great place to start. If you can, borrow the ring and bring it to a jeweler to be measured. If you can’t get the ring, you can try placing a ring of your own on your loved one’s finger to estimate the size.
Measure at the right time. Fingers can swell during the day, so it’s best to measure when your loved one’s hands are at their normal size. It’s also important to make sure that the room is not too hot or too cold, as this can affect the size of the finger.
Use a sizing chart. There are many ring sizing charts available online that can help you estimate your loved one’s ring size. Simply measure the circumference of the finger using a piece of string or a soft measuring tape, and then compare the measurement to the sizing chart to determine the size.
Make an impression. If your partner has a habit of leaving any of their rings lying about, make an impression of one. A bar of soap, a piece of clay or similar soft material can be used to take a reliable measurement.
Get a professional measurement. If you’re still unsure about the size, it’s best to take your loved one to a jeweler to get a professional measurement. This will ensure the most accurate fit and will also give you the opportunity to see different ring styles and settings in person.
When using a measurement tool, keep these tips in mind to get the best measurement possible:
- If using a printed sizing guide, make sure to confirm it is printed to scale before using.
- Don’t measure cold or hot fingers – this is when they are their smallest and largest, respectively.
- Pull tightly – the sizer must fit snugly to produce an accurate size.
By taking the time to measure your loved one’s finger, you can ensure that the diamond ring you choose is a perfect fit that they’ll treasure forever.
The decision of how much to spend on a diamond ring is a personal one and depends on a variety of factors. Ultimately, the most important consideration is your own financial situation and what you feel comfortable spending. However, here are a few things to keep in mind when considering whether to invest in a high-quality diamond ring:
The emotional value: A diamond ring is not just a piece of jewelry, it’s a symbol of love and commitment. If you or your partner value the emotional significance of a diamond ring, then it may be worth investing in a higher-quality piece that will last for a lifetime.
The durability: High-quality diamond rings are made to last, which means they will hold up over time and can be passed down through generations. A well-made diamond ring will also maintain its value over time and can be a valuable asset.
The resale value: If you’re concerned about the cost of a diamond ring, it’s important to remember that a high-quality diamond has good resale value. This means that if you need to sell the ring in the future, you can expect to recoup a significant portion of your investment.
The affordability: While high-quality diamond rings can be expensive, there are a range of options available to suit different budgets. From lab-grown diamonds to smaller carat sizes, there are ways to invest in a beautiful diamond ring without breaking the bank.
Ultimately, the decision of how much to spend on a diamond ring comes down to your own personal values and financial situation. If you value the emotional significance and durability of a diamond ring, and if you can comfortably afford the investment, then a high-quality diamond ring may be a worthwhile purchase that will bring joy and meaning for years to come.
We take great pride in offering high-quality pieces at fair and competitive prices. We understand that our customers are looking for the best value for their money, and we work hard to ensure that our prices are fair and transparent.
However, we would like to emphasize that our prices are not negotiable. We believe in offering our products at a fair price that reflects the quality and value of our diamond jewelry, and we do not engage in haggling or bargaining.
Our commitment to fair pricing means that you can trust that you are getting the best value for your investment when you shop with us. We believe that the quality of our products speaks for itself, and we stand behind every piece of diamond jewelry we sell.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to helping you find the perfect diamond ring for yourself or your loved one. If you have any questions about our pricing or our products, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are always happy to help.
Diamond jewelry is a valuable investment that can last a lifetime if properly cared for. Here are some tips on how to keep your diamond jewelry looking its best:
- Clean your diamond jewelry regularly, as it can become dirty and cloudy over time due to dirt, oil, and everyday wear. Clean your diamond jewelry at home using warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Be sure to rinse your jewelry thoroughly and dry it with a soft cloth. You can also restore a beautiful shine to your Timothy Carr jewels with a cleansing gel and brush that is suited to your piece. Please know that we don’t recommend using a home ultrasonic machine, which could loosen stones if used incorrectly.
- Store your jewelry properly. When not wearing your diamond jewelry, it’s important to store it properly and separately to protect it from damage and to prevent it from getting tangled or scratched. Store your diamond jewelry in a soft pouch or jewelry box, and avoid storing it with other jewelry that could scratch or damage it. The pouch and/or box you received with your purchase are specially designed with an ultra-soft finish that will not scratch your piece, and they have anti-tarnish properties that will help the design maintain its bright finish longer.
- Avoid wearing diamond jewelry during strenuous activities. While diamond jewelry is durable, it’s important to avoid wearing it during activities that could damage it, such as sports or manual labor. You should also avoid wearing diamond jewelry in the shower or when swimming, as chlorine and other chemicals can damage the metal and loosen the setting. Further, always remove jewelry and store it carefully in a safe place when working with your hands, such as: performing household tasks, gardening, playing sports, bathing, using abrasive products or engaging in any activity that could damage or cause the loss of your jewelry.
- Have your jewelry inspected and serviced regularly. Even with proper care, jewelry can become loose or damaged over time. It’s a good idea to have your diamond jewelry inspected and serviced by a professional jeweler regularly to ensure that it’s in good condition and to address any issues before they become more serious.
- Avoid chemicals and harsh elements. Cosmetics, hair spray, perfumes, lotions, other substances and chemicals may cause build-up of grime, will diminish jewelry’s natural sheen and beauty. If your piece has gemstone components, be sure to never submerge your piece in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner, nor expose them to saltwater or harsh chemicals (including household cleaning supplies). Also avoid extended exposure to extreme temperature or strong sunlight, which may cause gem discoloration.
- You can also polish your Timothy Carr piece with a clean, soft, slightly damp cloth before and after wear and handling. This will help prevent a build-up of natural oil accumulation that occurs through normal wear when the jewelry item touches skin.
Timothy Carr jewelry is made of precious metals and fine gems, and should be treated as such. By following these tips, you can keep your diamond jewelry looking beautiful for years to come. If you have any questions about caring for your diamond jewelry, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are always here to help.

So if you are not sure if what you have in mind needs to be necessarily custom made, we can guide you through the various options to help you to achieve your unique piece of jewelry.
There are often different expectations of how a bespoke piece of jewelry is made and initially, it all depends on whether you have a design in mind that you are quite certain of or if you are not really sure and you need the help and advise from us and our designers.
You may have seen a design from another website that you really like, but unable to find anything similar enough to it on our website. First, we will ask you to share any photos and links that you may have ahead of your scheduled appointment with us. Please don’t worry if you have lots of ideas at this early stage. The more information that you can give us ahead of a meeting is really valuable and helps us have a really good insight into your thoughts. We will ask you to think about what sort of metal(s) you want to use for your custom piece, if you know the finger size, and whether you have a specific carat weight or stone size that you are looking for. We will guide you through all of these questions during your appointment and then we can decide how to customize your ideal design.
We will then provide quotations for your consideration. Some people ask for a couple of different quotes based on bigger or smaller carat weights, etc.
An initial deposit of $500 is taken to start the process for you, which is offset from your personal quotation. For full bespoke service, we will send you sketches and/or 3D modeled images about a week later for you to consider, to bring your ideas to life. Once you have chosen a design, we will then follow up with computer images (renderings) and detailed measurements in preparation for production.
DIAMONDS
An ethically cultivated, or grown, diamond is a diamond created in a controlled laboratory environment with a lot of energy that mimics the conditions in the earth’s crust (intense high pressure and temperature) to form the crystalized form of carbon known as diamond. It is born from a pure carbon seed, and is chemically, physically, and optically identical to a mined diamond. Both mined diamonds and grown diamonds can be certified, including laser engraving confirming it has met the characteristic standards of a third party grading organization.
Very high quality mined diamonds are very rare, incredibly expensive, and catalyze tremendous tension and negative impact to communities, environments, water sources, and human rights, to name a few. Grown diamonds can exhibit superior characteristics without the negative implications.
If the energy to create grown diamonds is supplied from burning fossil fuels, then those lab grown diamonds, although still more ethical than mined diamonds, cannot be called 100% ethical or sustainable.
However, there are a few select diamond growers in the world who have addressed this dilemma within this rapidly changing industry, and they do that by sourcing the energy required to grow diamonds from renewable sources. By using greener energy to grow diamonds, their diamonds can be called truly ethical and sustainable, which we strongly appreciate and support!
To take it one step further, there is a company based in America who is extracting carbon from the atmosphere to grow their diamonds. The carbon extracted for a 1 carat diamond is more than the average carbon footprint for a person in the UK for 2 years! (A 1 carat diamond grown using carbon from the atmosphere removes 20,000 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere, and the average person in the UK has an annual carbon footprint of ~10,000 tonnes per year). These lab diamonds are soon going to be available through us, so keep your eyes peeled for when we introduce them to our inventory of truly ethical stone options!
Yes, these are real diamonds, which are pure crystalized carbon. Lab created diamonds will pass all tests used to confirm a pure carbon diamond.
Choosing the right size diamond depends on several factors, including your personal preferences, diamond availability, and the style of the ring or jewelry. Here are some things to consider when deciding on the right size diamond:
Availability: Historically, diamonds become exponentially more rare the larger and higher quality they are. One advantage of Timothy Carr Diamonds is that we grow diamonds to a very strict and high-quality set of requirements for cut, color, clarity, and other defining features. Even our largest diamonds, if not currently in supplier inventory, can be grown in just a few short weeks.
Finger size: The size of your finger can also play a role in determining the right diamond size. If you have a smaller finger, a larger diamond may look too overwhelming, and a smaller diamond may be a better fit. If you have a larger finger, a smaller diamond may not make as much of an impact, and a larger diamond may be a better option.
Style of the ring: The style of the ring can also influence the size of the diamond. Our rings are specially balanced to showcase larger and more awe-inspiring size diamonds.
Personal preferences: Ultimately, the size of the diamond you choose should be based on your personal preferences. Some people prefer larger diamonds that make a statement, while others may prefer a smaller, more understated look.
It’s important to note that the size of the diamond is just one factor to consider when purchasing a diamond. The quality of the diamond, including its cut, clarity, and color, is also important to consider. We take the guesswork out of diamond selection by hand-picking only those that meet our stringent requirements.
Hardness is a measure of a gemstone’s or diamond’s resistance to scratches and abrasions. In the context of gemstones and diamonds, hardness is typically measured using the Mohs hardness scale, which ranges from 1 to 10, with 10 being the hardest.
Diamond, which is the hardest natural material known to man, has a Mohs hardness of 10, while other gemstones and minerals, such as quartz and topaz, have lower Mohs hardness values. The Mohs hardness scale is a relative scale, meaning that a material with a higher number can scratch a material with a lower number, but not the other way around.
The hardness of a gemstone or diamond is an important factor to consider when choosing a stone for a piece of jewelry or other application. A harder stone is less likely to get scratched or damaged over time, making it a more durable option. However, harder stones can also be more difficult to work with and may require special tools and techniques for cutting and shaping.
Diamond grading reports, also known as diamond certificates, are documents that provide an objective assessment of a diamond’s characteristics and quality. They are typically issued by independent gemological laboratories, such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the American Gem Society (AGS), and are used to verify a diamond’s authenticity and provide important information about its characteristics.
The information contained in a diamond grading report typically includes the diamond’s 4Cs: carat weight, color, clarity, and cut. These factors are used to determine the overall quality and value of the diamond. The report may also include additional information, such as the diamond’s measurements, fluorescence, and any additional treatments or enhancements.
Diamond grading reports are an important tool for consumers when purchasing a diamond, as they provide an unbiased assessment of the diamond’s quality and help to ensure that the diamond is accurately represented. They can also be useful for insurance purposes, as they provide a detailed record of the diamond’s characteristics and value.
It’s important to note that not all diamond grading reports are created equal, and it’s important to choose a reputable laboratory with a proven track record for accurate and consistent grading. The GIA and AGS are two of the most highly regarded gemological laboratories, and their grading reports are widely recognized and respected in the industry.
The 4Cs of diamonds are carat weight, color, clarity, and cut, and they are used to determine a diamond’s overall quality and value. The highest ratings for each of the 4Cs are as follows:
Carat Weight: The carat weight of a diamond is a measure of its weight, with one carat equal to 0.2 grams. We offer our designs with center stones ranging from 1 to over 8 carats.
Color: The color of a diamond refers to its lack of color or the presence of color. The highest rating for color is D, which indicates that the diamond is completely colorless. Our diamonds are typically accepted with colors of D, E, and F.
Clarity: The clarity of a diamond refers to the presence of inclusions and blemishes, which are imperfections within the diamond. The highest rating for clarity is IF, which stands for “internally flawless” and indicates that the diamond has no visible inclusions or blemishes under 10x magnification. We primarily select diamonds that range from VVS1/2 to IF.
Cut: The cut of a diamond, arguable the most visibly impactful and underrated characteristic, refers to how well the diamond has been cut and how it reflects light. The highest rating for cut is “Excellent” or “Ideal,” which indicates that the diamond has been cut to the optimal proportions to maximize its brilliance and fire. All of our diamonds are Ideal cut.
It’s important to note that a diamond’s overall quality and value is determined by a combination of these factors, and there may be variations in the ratings of each of the 4Cs that can affect a diamond’s appearance and value. Ultimately, the most important factor in choosing a diamond is choosing one that looks beautiful to you.
Yes. All of our diamonds come with grading certificates from a third party independent lab.
